Guitarist Brian May has said in interviews that he arrived at the sessions for "Crazy" late, the song was almost completed (with Mercury supplying rhythm guitar on the track). When writing the song, Mercury was hit with inspiration at a peculiar moment - in the book Queen: A Visual Documentary by Ken Dean, Mercury was quoted as saying "I wrote 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' in the bath," while staying at a hotel. The album touched upon many different musical styles, but perhaps the most surprising was the rockabilly tribute "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." The song was penned entirely by Freddie Mercury, but since it sounded so close to Elvis Presley's classic recordings, it led many people to incorrectly assume that it was an Elvis cover. Although Queen was one of the world's biggest rock bands by the dawn of the '80s, they were also often targeted by the young punk movement as being "dinosaurs." But just as everyone thought they had Freddie Mercury and company figured out, they issued one of their most musically varied (and best) albums, 1980's The Game.
